My Daughter's Birthday

A couple of weeks ago was our daughter's birthday. Her favorite things in the whole world are coffee, books, and being a princess! So, for breakfast we served her coffee in this tiny cup, presented her with a flashing crown, her Daddy made her favorite breakfast (oatmeal and a banana) and he gave her some flowers he bought for her. We also gave her the main gift from us, a bible that is just pictures. No words. It's very cool and when she opened it she said "Oh Mommy, it's beautiful, it's my favorite". And she still refers to it as her favorite - how cute!

She had a party with a bunch of her little friends, and a cake shaped like a ladybug (she loves bugs!) but when it came time to sing to her she cried (did NOT like all the attention!) Too funny. So different than her brother!

If any of you would like to comment please don't use my children's real names - just refer to them as my son and my daughter. Thanks!

Ocean City on the fly

Last Thursday we woke up to a house with no power. We had been a little bored lately and so we decided to jump in the van and drive to Ocean City, MD. Our kids had been asking to see the ocean for quite some time... so Rob and I thought, why not? We left the house at 7am, drove the 3 1/2 hours there. Spent a couple hours on the beach, ate pizza on the board

walk, got back in the car and drove 3 1/2 hours

back. It was awesome. We were home by 7pm that night. We all had a great time... I love just jumping in the car and going. You all should do something just for the heck of it this week.

Wow, how trendy am I?

I am now officially blogging... weird. I feel so hip. (I am so with-it, oh yeah.) I decided that I'd like to blog in order to keep up with all of our family and let them be a part of our life while we're away from home. I am going to attempt to post a few pictures just to practice... I'll get better at this as I go, I guess.

Updates on Cutting Calories and Credit Cards:

2/6 - Lost 4# this week so back on track. No credit spending. Hate credit so much! Looked at my balance this week and wanted to puke. Just want it GONE. Someday it will be. Chip away, chip away.

1/30 - Birthday weeks are NOT great weeks to be trying to loose weight! Actually GAINED 3# - yuck. But knew I would because between my son's bday celebration and two different ones for me there was no way I'd loose. Soooo back to the grind this week. Hopefully I can at least make that weight up and get back to what I weighed in at on the 23rd. Credit spending (or actually non-spending) was fine this week but it was very stressful to not have that resource for my son's birthday gifts and party. Also, as I'm trying to loose weight it's rough because healthy food costs more and I'm trying to grocery shop with LESS money bc of the no credit thing... *sigh* - No pain, no gain, right?

1/23 - So this week was loooong. Wasn't sure I'd loose any because I was working so much I didn't get time to exercise BUT I still lost 2#. Sweet! So I'm down 8# total for the month. Spent a little money on credit this week via iTunes but I'm ok with that. Baby steps.

1/16 - Lost only 1 pound this week but I guess one pound is one pound. Might have been more but I had a hot date with Rob and we ate like kings :) ------ Nothing new with finances. Still good.

1/10 - Lost just 2 tenths shy of 2# this week. Feeling pretty good about that. Of course I would love to loose it in big chunks but I'm sure that would mean the weight wouldn't stay off bc I was just starving myself and not really changing my lifestyle. ------ Another week with no credit to bail me out. Groceries were lean because I didn't plan well but of course we all survived because it was my American (aka blessed) "lean" which means we had stuff to eat just not stuff we like :0) So this week I will hope to manage everything better. The debt is still sickening but at least nothing was added to it this week.
