The Abells took off for Ohio on vacation Sunday after church. Our first stop was about 2 hours in near Jamestown and by luck was really cool. We randomly pulled off and found ourselves at this awesome Native American run rest stop. So pretty and welcoming.
This was one of the windows and this neat little story was in the yard.
We stayed the night in Erie PA and this was our first official vacation meal. The kids were really excited about the mini table in the room. :) (Not quite sure what the power-girl pose from our daughter was all about). The next morning we got up and around and heading off to our first actually destination: My friend Lene's house in Canton OH. Lene and I met at Creation Festival when I was 16 and she was 17 years old and have been pen pals ever since. The last time we saw each other was 2000 - so she had never met my kids and I had never met her husband! A road trip was in order for sure!
We got to Canton in the afternoon, settled in, and chatted with Lene for a while. Later we had dinner with her parents and husband while she was in class (she's about to get her master's degree - go girl!) It was great to see her parents again. I stayed with them once the first year we met.
The next morning Lene treated us to Chuck E Cheeses!
That afternoon the women and kids rested and Rob went to the football hall of fame. He liked it but said there was no nearly enough Eagles stuff :) When he got back we all took a stroll by the pond/lake behind Lene's house and found these beautiful creatures. Click here to be linked to a video of him doing one for the kids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoaPN_gt7Xo&feature=channel_pageWe had cake because they wanted to sing to Elise for her up coming 4th birthday - cute short video of that too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM3zXJp4o9c

That's awesome! I LOVE those "young family vacations", when something as small as pizza on a motel table fascinates our kids!
